Submit a Project Proposal to Screen Australia

Screen Australia produces programs under the National Interest Program, the Making History Initiative and Screen Australia Digital Learning .

You can use our online submission system to submit a project proposal to Screen Australia for a National Interest Program.

If your proposal is for the Making History Initiative, please contact history@screenaustralia.gov.au

If your proposal is for Screen Australia Digital Learning, please contact learning@screenaustralia.gov.au

What project proposals do we accept?
Screen Australia is not a funding body. It’s an Australian Government owned company that produces and commissions production of National Interest Programs.

We accept proposals for television documentaries, factual programs and a small number of digital content/new media projects from individuals and companies in the independent Australian film and digital community.

We also accept proposals for co-production partnerships from overseas producers, provided they meet National Interest Program guidelines.

We cannot accept proposals or ideas from members of the general public. If you have a program idea, we recommend collaborating with a documentary filmmaker or production company.

We also do not accept proposals for feature films, dramas or children’s programs. If your project relates to these areas, see our Resource page for a list of state and federal film/screen agencies.

As a production company, Screen Australia invests in the development of program proposals and also provides production funding for fully developed projects. However, we do not usually invest in projects at post-production stage. If you are seeking investment at post-production stage, please note this in your submission.

Please also note in your submission if the project is related in any way to any previous proposal you have submitted to Screen Australia.

The process
Applications are accepted at any time. (There are no specific deadline dates.)

Receipt of your application will be acknowledged within five working days.

A Screen Australia executive producer will then review the application (usually within four to six weeks) and contact you. You may be asked to provide further information.

Projects that fall within the commissioning priorities of the National Interest Program may then be submitted by the executive producer to a Screen Australia content meeting for investment consideration.

If you have questions about the submission process or wish to make changes to a proposal you have already submitted, please contact commissionedproduction@screenaustralia.com.au.

IMPORTANT
Before making a submission, please ensure you have read our company profile, National Interest Program, Working with Screen Australia and our terms and conditions for submissions. We only accept
proposals that meet these parameters.

These are also included in our Project Proposal Info Pack, along with details of the online form and guidelines for supporting documentation. We recommend you consult this info pack before preparing your submission.
