On the whole though, the kind of person who chooses to come on the journey rather than stay at a wilderness lodge and just do a day walk, is wanting more from the trip and I think it often changes people's perception of the environment. I mean, we do a bootscrub for a fungus called phytopthera in the beginning of the third day and people get quite shocked that we're scrubbing their boots and it makes them realise how fragile the land is...
